You will then be able to report your cattle movements on and off your holding quickly and easily and with little effort. Cattle will be registered using dental records.

This system will be especially important when you shop for new cattle.

Obtaining a Government Gateway ID

Obtaining a Government Gateway ID is a straightforward process. Visit gateway.gov.uk to register. You will need to select if you are representing:

  1. Yourself as an individual
  2. Representing an organisation

Once you have given all your correct details you will be issued with a Government Gateway I’d number.

This is important, ensure that you keep it in a safe place. If you do need help registering there is a dedicated help section on CTS website, allowing you to telephone the relevant department.

Enrolling for the (CTS) online service

Once you have obtained the Government Gateway ID, you now need to Enrol for the CTS service online.

Go to bcms.gov.uk. In order to complete the process you will need to have to hand your known facts information.

This includes your CTS holding number, which would either be your CPH number or the slaughterhouse number. You will also require your online reference number for the holding, which you should be able to locate on a letter you would have received from BCMS.

If these have been lost you will need to contact BCMS via the telephone number in the contact section of the website. You will then be able to carry out a mock test of the system and create test papers.

Once you have completed these two steps, you will be able to login online easily and test that you have registered correctly. You will not be required to carry out this registration process again.
