What’s can I do with Gateway?
gateway.gov.uk is your way to sign up for and contact the Government services that are available over the internet, such as dwp, jobs, ofsted, pension forecast, bcms and motoring online.
The following tutorial will show you how to:
- Create an account
- Login
- Enrol in a service
- Check your balance
- Change your password
Create an account on Gateway Gov.uk
When you create an account with Gateway UK you have the option to sign up as either an individual, an organisation or as an agent.
Choose your area: Individual, organisation or agent
When you have decided which account is right for you, click the relevant registration button. This will take you to a screen asking you to enter your personal details.
When you have done this you will be given a user ID; make a note of this somewhere, as you will need it to login in future.
To login, enter your username and password, if you have not create your account, click on “register”.
Enter the gateway log in
When you next go on the Gateway Gov.uk site you will see a button entitled “Enter the Government Gateway”; click on this, and you will be asked to enter the user id that you were given upon signup, along with the password you created.

When you do this you will be taken to a screen showing you all the services in which you may enrol. For example, if you wish to enter the gateway pension forecast, simply click the relevant link and enter the required details.
Whilst logged-in, you may also perform operations such as changing your password, checking your balance and much more.
To do the former simply click ‘manage logins’ on the left-hand side, and choose the option to change your password.
For the latter, choose the service that you have been enrolled in, and you will be shown the relevant balance. If you are ever in any doubt, simply use the helpdesk on the homepage, where you will find lot of information to help you.
